My Top Ten "Hotties"
A week or two ago, a few friends posted top ten lists of preferred "hotties," famous figures with physiques and features found favorable. I thought about taking part, but held off in favor of preparing other entries like the nerd I am.
Well, the natives are restless, and are demanding to know my top ten. Therefore, I'm presenting my rundown of my top ten lovely ladies at this time. They will be presented in no particular order, because one can't afford to show favoritism in matters like these, lest jealousy abound.
A brief note at the start: attraction for me arises from both physical and intellectual qualities. If one is more prevalent than the other in any of these examples, I'll try to remember to make a note of it.

Emmy Rossum
This girl is cute as a button! I'm a big fan of "Phantom of the Opera"... while the movie wasn't perfect by any measure, it was helped immensely by her phenomenal singing abilities and lovely visage. Offstage, when she's representing herself (like on "Movie Night" filler before & after commercial breaks), she exudes a strong "sweet girl next door" vibe. Sigh.

Karen Allen
If you know me at all, then this should be obvious. Famous for the role of "Marion Ravenwood" in "Raiders of the Lost Ark", the lady is capable of bringing in a great dramatic range to any work. She also loves knitting... like, really loves knitting. It also doesn't hurt that she looks almost exactly the same now as she did thirty years ago.

Young Carrie Fisher
Time may not have been so kind to Carrie Fisher, but that's okay... through the magic of Karen Allen, we're able to go back in time and appreciate the beauty that once was. Often touted as the daughter of true Hollywood royalty, she fell upon hard times after successfully inspiring at least two or three generations of males to wistfully wish for romance a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Maureen Dowd
Courtney: "She'd probably castrate you first."
Kyle: "That's part of the allure."
Courtney: "And that sounds like something a battered wife would say."
Okay, this one is going to take some explaining. A noted liberal feminist journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner, she's the author of books with titles such as "Bushworld: Enter at Your Own Risk" and "Are Men Necessary: When Sexes Collide". I read articles of hers on NYTimes Online on occasion... très amusant. She's strong enough to journalistically beat down all who oppose her, and that's hot. It just is. She's not bad looking, either, so there.

Grace Park
"Battlestar Galactica" is well-known for its attractive cast, having no shortage of cake on either side of the gender divide. I have selected Grace Park as the duly appointed representative of the females, for her nuanced, alluring, and downright sexy portrayal of one twelfth of an entire race. The population of Earth is approximately 6.7 billion people. One twelfth of that is 558,333,333 people. My God, who wouldn't want to live in a world with half a billion Grace Parks? I would. That's the beauty of science fiction, people. Here in the real world, we only get one. Sadness.

Sandra Bullock
I'll admit, there are other ladies on my list that I find more attractive than Sandra Bullock. However, there's just something about her portrayal of so many different characters... she's got the whole "likeable but ditzy/goofy/geeky" thing down pat, and I can appreciate that. Also, she was in "Speed", which inspired a rather amusing bit of multilingual comedy by Eddie Izzard, so she gets my vote.

Kari Byron
"Mythbusters" is awesome for many reasons... this lady is one of them. She's crafty, she's smart, she's funny, and she knows lots of stuff about explosions and firearms. It also doesn't hurt that she's willing and able to don wetsuits and bikinis when the occasion warrants. Thank you, Discovery Channel. Thank you so much.

Jennifer Garner
Before I went to college--and before ABC started screwing with the schedule--I used to watch "Alias". Jennifer Garner, much like Emmy Rossum, is able to bring the range and the down-to-earth sweetness of personality; however, she's also able to bring the action, in oh so many ways. As secret superspy Sydney Bristow, she would shoot and seduce her way through all sorts of daring and devious plots by the terrorists and megalomaniacs of the world. Look... if the lady can lay the smackdown on Roger Moore, she deserves some recognition. (I'm able to say that in part because I never bothered to see "Elektra".)

Jewel Staite
Evidence to support the case:
1. sci-fi actress
2. really freaking cute
3. portrayed a female engineer
4. aforementioned engineer was very interested in romance
5. see previous four.
"zendulo"
This girl is currently the be-all, end-all, the alpha and the omega. Expounding geek cred in a response to this amusing video, she exhibits some of the best qualities of all the previously mentioned finalists, with one stunningly important caveat: she's real, and representing herself. Beauty, thy name is "zendulo".
So say we all!
Now I need to go be beaten up by my jealous, cute, smart, geeky girlfriend. Bye!
